The Abernethy Road
Boat Ramp in Ascot is a spacious two-lane ramp that transitions from bitumen to
a concrete apron, followed by a stretch of crushed limestone before reaching
the sand. This setup can be a bit tricky, especially for less experienced boaters.
The absence of a jetty means launching a bigger boat can be a challenge, and if you're launching or retrieving a larger boat, a 4x4 might come in
handy.
This ramp gives you
direct access to the Swan River, a fantastic spot for cruising or trying your
luck at catching bream, herring, or skippy. Parking is plentiful, making it
convenient for those towing trailers.
Beyond just launching
boats, the area is a great place to spend time by the river with family.
Hardey Park is right
nearby, featuring a playground for the kids, picnic shelters, benches, BBQ
stations, and a small toilet block. There’s also a quirky little fenced
structure known as "The Dollhouse" next to the playground. If you’re
in the mood for some exercise, the walking and jogging paths around the ramp
offer a scenic way to stay active while soaking in the river views.
