Just 9 km out from
Albany’s town centre, you’ll find the Albany Boat Ramp tucked into the calm
waters of Emu Point Boat Harbour, right on Oyster Harbour.
This spot is a
favourite for local fishers and boaters, thanks to its sheltered conditions and
easy access. There’s plenty of room to park your vessel with 24 boat pens (both
commercial and recreational), four jetties, a proper boat ramp, and even a fish-cleaning
station to tidy up your catch.
The ramp itself is
super user-friendly; with three lanes, two floating jetties that are wheelchair
accessible, and wooden jetties between each lane. The angle of the ramp is
ideal, it’s non-slip, and launching is a breeze. If you’re into squidding,
there’s a prime little spot right off the jetty next to the ramp.
Need to clean your
fish? There’s a stainless-steel setup with six taps and waste disposal, plus a
shaded seating area to kick back and relax. Don’t miss the Sam the Seal
Monument nearby—dedicated to Albany’s much-loved and missed local legend, Sammy
the Seal, who used to charm and capture everyone's hearts with his playful
visits.
There’s a public
toilet and shower block at the entrance, and if you get peckish, you can grab a
bite from the nearby fish and chips shop. The whole area is super accessible:
whether you’re walking, biking, driving, or rolling in with a wheelchair.
The views are
stunning, making it a perfect spot for a walk, swim, or just chilling out with
a coffee. Families and pets are totally welcome. It’s clean, well-kept, and
full of good vibes.
And just east of the
ramp? There's a gorgeous little beach; great for letting your dog run wild,
having a picnic, sunbathing, wading, or swimming.
