Apple Tree Bay Boat Ramp

The Apple Tree Bay Boat Ramp, nestled within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park in Mount Colah, offers a scenic and practical launch point for those looking to explore the calm waters of Apple Tree Creek, Cowan Creek, or the broader Hawkesbury River system. Surrounded by native bushland, it’s a peaceful location ideal for launching small boats, kayaks, and fishing vessels.

The four-lane concrete ramp is spacious (wide enough to accommodate three to four users at once) and is complemented by a nearby jetty for easier loading and unloading. However, the elevated walkway to the pontoon can make single person launches a bit awkward, especially without trailer latching gear. At low tide, users should be cautious of the ramp’s drop-off edge to avoid trailer mishaps.

There’s adequate parking on site for vehicles with trailers, and the area is equipped with convenient amenities, including toilets, picnic tables, and fish cleaning stations. It’s a popular spot not only for boating but also for relaxed picnics, fishing with the kids, or simply watching boats come and go.

A small café nearby serves quality coffee, shakes, and pies, adding to the charm of the location. With plenty of photogenic spots around, it’s also a nice place for a quiet day out or some casual photography.

Do keep in mind that as the boat ramp is located within a national park, a $12 entry fee applies. This helps ensure the grounds remain clean, secure, and well looked after.

Favoured for early morning paddling trips, light fishing, and leisurely cruising, Apple Tree Bay provides a blend of practical access and natural beauty; perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy one of Northern Sydney’s most tranquil waterways.
