The Awoonga Avenue Public Boat Ramp, located in the coastal suburb of Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, features a single-lane concrete ramp that provides direct access into the Tallebudgera Creek. There are no tie-up points, with rocks lining both sides, so it's best suited for quick launches rather than extended stops.

This spot is particularly popular for launching kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, especially on calm days when the water is clear and inviting. However, it’s not ideal for beginners learning to paddle, as passing motorised boats can create wake that may be challenging to navigate.

While it’s a peaceful and scenic location, parking can be a challenge. The ramp is in a residential area with only street parking available, and it tends to fill quickly, especially on weekends and during summer. Visitors often need to park on nearby side streets, such as those in Koala Park, so arriving early is advisable.

The area is well-suited for a relaxed day out. There are two BBQ stations, several picnic tables and benches, and a lovely view across the water. Although there are no public toilets on-site, there is a shower near the ramp for rinsing off after a swim or paddle. A few areas are lit after dark, making it possible to stay and enjoy a quiet evening by the water if you're near one of the well-lit tables.

The foreshore is dog-friendly, child-friendly, and ideal for picnicking. It's a great place to swim, fish, or simply enjoy the outdoors, particularly at low tide when the shallow water is safe for young children. Do be mindful of strong currents and keep a close eye on little ones when they're in the water.

Awoonga Avenue offers a laid-back atmosphere and natural beauty, though its popularity means it can get crowded. Still, it remains a favourite among locals and visitors alike for a casual day by the water.
