Located in the suburb of Valentine within the City of Lake Macquarie, the Bennett Park Boat Ramp offers a convenient access point to the lake. The ramp features two concrete lanes and a side pontoon, making it easy and safe for boarding and disembarking. It’s a popular spot for both launching small to medium boats and for casual fishing. The pontoon also makes a decent spot to cast a line, although it can get a little windy at times.
While functional, the ramp does show some wear, and it's worth noting that the concrete may be a little short for larger trailers; some have reported their wheels going past the edge during launch.
The area includes a sealed parking lot for trailers, though it tends to fill quickly during peak times. Access via the street is also somewhat narrow, so take care when towing.
The ramp sits next to Bennett Park, a peaceful, family-friendly green space that includes a children’s playground, shaded picnic areas, and open grassy spots which are perfect for a relaxing day by the water. Public toilets are conveniently located in the park as well, and there’s also a slop hopper available for portaloo waste disposal.
The foreshore offers plenty of room for walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the view. Families can take advantage of the BBQ facilities in the picnic areas, while others might prefer to sit back with some fish and chips and take in the lake’s natural beauty.
The downside to the ramp is that there is no freshwater tap available for rinsing down boats. But overall, the area is clean, scenic, and relaxed; a well-liked location for local boaters, fishers, and anyone looking to enjoy a bit of time by the lake.
