Black Gully Boat Ramp

The Black Gully Boat Ramp, set in the Black Gully area of Lake Tinaroo, is a single-lane concrete ramp that gives direct access to the lake. It’s a pleasant and easy-to-use ramp, though it isn’t particularly steep, so larger boats may find launching a little tricky, especially when water levels are low, and the ramp feels a bit short.

It’s a peaceful area ideal for paddling, relaxing with friends, or enjoying a swim.

The area around the point offers straightforward water access, making it a convenient spot for a wide range of activities. Many visitors bring their kayaks, and you’ll often see water-skiers out on the lake, though it rarely feels crowded. Swimming, kayaking, sailing, and general boating are all permitted at Lake Tinaroo, but operators are reminded to follow posted signs, watch for hazards, and stay at least 200 metres away from the dam wall as marked. Exclusion zones are clearly signed and should be respected for everyone’s safety.

The surrounding space is open and quiet, making it a good spot for dogs (kept on a leash), family picnics, or a simple day outdoors. There is a public toilet block for added convenience, and there’s plenty of fallen timber for small campfires. Kids will find lots of room to explore, though visitors should keep an eye out for snakes. Fishing is allowed throughout most of Lake Tinaroo, though onshore fishing near the dam wall is prohibited.

Privately operated campsites and accommodation are available nearby at Tinaroo Falls Dam, and recreational BBQs are provided for visitor use. Overall, Black Gully offers a relaxed setting for boating, swimming, fishing, and enjoying the water at your own pace.
