The Black Rock Boat
Ramp at Half Moon Bay in Port Phillip has a pretty cool setup with three small
single-lane concrete ramps just a few meters apart. These ramps are perfect for
launching small trailer-sized boats. The ramps provide easy and direct access
to Port Phillip, but be careful during low tide—there are around 200 meters of
sand you’ll have to wade through, which can make launching a bit of a
challenge.
It’s a great spot for
a family day out! The ramp closest to the parking lot has a wharf and a big
jetty where you can take a nice stroll and enjoy that refreshing sea breeze.
Besides the jetty,
there are some nice restaurants and fish and chips shops right next to the
Black Rock Yacht Club. There is a beach just a few metres away from the ramp
where you can enjoy various fun activities. If you're in the mood for a day of
water adventures, consider going snorkelling to explore the HMVS Cerberus, an
old shipwreck nearby.
Take note—don’t forget
to bring some spare change for the parking fee. Also, if you’re thinking about
spending the day boating, try to arrive early since it can get pretty busy.
