The Bonna Point Boat Ramp, located within Bonna Point Reserve near Kurnell Point Lookout, features a single-lane concrete ramp with a side pontoon. The ramp is a reasonable size, but it only allows one boat at a time for launching or retrieval. It becomes shallow toward the breakwall and is only reliably usable at high tide.
At lower tides, sand build-up can make launching difficult or impossible, and the ramp often requires dredging to remain functional. As a result, launching smaller boats, jet skis, or lightweight craft is more practical, and a four-wheel drive may be necessary when sand accumulates on the ramp surface. Care is advised, as traction can be limited in these conditions.
Parking is generally plentiful and free, although trailer parking can be inconsistent, with some spaces often taken by non-trailer vehicles. Parking restrictions are enforced in the area, so it’s worth paying attention to signage to avoid fines.
Beyond boating, Bonna Point is a popular and scenic destination. The reserve offers public toilets, picnic shelters, a clean and relatively quiet beach, and excellent views across Botany Bay toward the Sydney skyline. It’s a great spot for walking, relaxing in the sun, enjoying takeaway fish and chips, or simply watching aircraft arrive and depart from Sydney Airport; plane spotting here is a local highlight.
The area is also dog-friendly, with off-leash zones, nearby coffee options, and open spaces that make it suitable for families and casual visitors alike. Whether you’re launching a boat or just spending the day by the water, Bonna Point remains a well-loved spot for its views, facilities, and relaxed atmosphere.
