The Boykambil Esplanade Boat Ramp, located in the quiet suburb of Hope Island on the Gold Coast, offers a single-lane concrete ramp with a wide sandy beach alongside, which makes it ideal for pulling up your boat or jet ski. It’s a convenient launch point with direct access to the Coomera River and the nearby Broadwater, making it a popular spot for locals, especially on weekends.
While the ramp itself is generally well-kept, launching and retrieving during mid-tide can be a bit challenging due to the strong tidal flow and occasional wind. The approach can become tricky as the water moves swiftly across the ramp, so a bit of caution is advised. During king tides, the water can rise over the ramp and parking area, sometimes causing minor flooding.
This ramp is best suited for smaller vessels under 6 metres, including jet skis, thanks to the shallow water and compact setup. The adjacent sandy beach offers a calm spot for passengers to hop in and out, and the quieter atmosphere makes it a pleasant alternative to busier ramps in the area.
Parking is somewhat limited, with space for around 10 vehicles with trailers, so arriving early is a good idea. Despite the smaller scale, the area is well-equipped with public toilets, a fixed wharf, BBQ facilities, and a children’s playground, making it a nice spot for a relaxed outing with family or friends.
The surrounding foreshore is a lovely open space, perfect for fishing, kayaking, picnicking, or simply enjoying the water views. The clear, sandy-bottomed shoreline adds to the charm, and seating areas allow you to sit back and take in the sights of passing boat traffic.
Boykambil is a scenic and practical choice for local boaters and families alike... a great blend of function and calm riverside leisure.
