The Bucasia Boat Ramp, located in the coastal Mackay suburb of Bucasia and accessed via The Esplanade near the local caravan resort, provides a dual-lane concrete ramp leading out into Sunset Bay. It’s a convenient and easy-to-use launch point, particularly suited to smaller boats, and is generally quieter than some of the larger regional ramps.
As the area is tidal, boaters will need to plan around high tide for the best access conditions. The ramp area is also monitored by CCTV, offering an added level of security for visitors.
The area is especially popular with families and anglers looking for a peaceful place to spend the day. Land-based fishing is common along the beach, with flathead often caught around high tide. The southern end of the beach near the sandy spits and mangroves of Eimeo Creek is considered one of the better local fishing spots. While the boat ramp itself does not have dedicated amenities, nearby Seaview Park (just a short walk away) offers public toilets, picnic tables, water fountains, and a children’s playground.
