The Bunbury Boat Ramp
is a gem for boaties, tucked just off Koombana Bay Road down into Lyons Cove
Road in the coastal city of Bunbury, south of Perth. It’s got five wide
concrete ramp lanes with non-slip pontoons in between the lanes (think
sandpaper texture for solid grip) perfect for easy docking and loading or
unloading. There are plenty of tie-up posts too, and it’s a smooth launch spot
for small to mid-sized boats heading into the Preston River.
Locals love how
user-friendly it is, and it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular launch site.
With over 15 trailer-friendly parking spots nearby, you’re unlikely to struggle
for space. There’s also a handy wash-down area with fresh water and rubbish bins
near the rigging zone which is super convenient for cleaning up after a day on
the water.
Right next door is
Sykes Foreshore Park, which has everything for a perfect day out. Think shaded
picnic spots, BBQs, a playground for the kids, clean toilets, and drinking
fountains. There’s even a splash park to keep the little ones cool and happy on
hot summer days. Love to walk? There are scenic trails along the water’s edge,
perfect for stretching your legs.
It’s a top spot for
families, especially with dolphins often popping up in the river for a bit of a
show. You can dip your toes in, soak up the calm vibe, and yes; your furry
friends are welcome too!
