The one-lane concrete ramp at Joshua Porter
Reserve is a top spot for boaters, boating enthusiasts, and visitors to launch
small boats and personal watercraft (PWCs) into Lake Macquarie. The ramp is
sheltered from winds but becomes shallow at low tide. It can be filled with
weeds or mud at times. There is a turning area to assist with backing up, as
well as a beaching area. Just a few meters away is a jetty that extends into
the water, providing a great spot for fishing from the shore or tying a boat.
Mostly frequented by locals, it's important
to be mindful of this lovely area.
The Reserve features a quiet park with
barbecue and picnic facilities in shaded grassy spots. Additional amenities
include clean toilets, fish cleaning tables, a fenced children's playground,
and swimming areas.
There is also wide space parking for cars
and trailers.
