Chinderah boat ramp

The Chinderah Boat Ramp, located in the small riverside town of Chinderah, just south of Kingscliff in the Tweed Shire, is a modest, single-lane ramp providing access to the Tweed River. While the ramp itself is basic and can be a challenge to use, particularly at low tide, it offers a quiet and peaceful launching spot that’s rarely crowded.

At low water levels, users may encounter debris like sticks and logs, and the shallow depth means you’ll likely need to drag your boat through knee-deep water and mud to launch. There’s no jetty or platform available, so passengers will also need to wade through the mud or attempt to board from the nearby rock wall. It’s not ideal, but when river levels are higher, launching is more manageable and straightforward.

A small, dedicated car park is located right beside the ramp. It only has a limited number of spaces, but this is usually sufficient given the ramp’s quiet nature.

The ramp area is a pleasant place to pause, especially with a highly rated fish and chip shop directly across the road from the boat ramp. Public toilets and picnic tables are available nearby, making it a nice spot to rest, enjoy a meal, or simply take in the river views.

Overall, while the ramp is basic and best used at higher tides, Chinderah is a scenic and relaxed location, great for a quiet day by the water or a casual fishing trip along the banks of the Tweed River.
