Located in the remote Cape York Peninsula, the Claudie River Boat Ramp serves as a key launching point for locals and anglers. Situated about 5 km from the Lockhart River Aboriginal Shire and near Iron Range National Park, it provides access to one of Far North Queensland's most scenic waterways.

The facility includes a single-lane concrete boat ramp and a small, unpaved dirt parking area. There are no amenities available in the vicinity. Visitors should keep in mind that this is a remote area where fuel, supplies, and services are limited, so careful trip planning is essential.

The river has a muddy bottom, and conditions are heavily influenced by the tides, so it's essential to check local tide charts before planning your launch. Boaters should also be aware of sandbars and submerged debris in sections of the river, particularly closer to the mouth.

Fishing is a major drawcard, with the Claudie River and its estuary producing a variety of sought-after species. The river mouth and surrounding channels are popular fishing spots, offering excellent opportunities for those willing to venture into this remote location.

As with many waterways across Cape York, crocodiles are known to inhabit the area, so caution should always be exercised when launching, retrieving, or spending time near the water.

Despite its remote location, the nearby Lockhart River community is an important stop for travellers, offering fuel, provisions, phone and internet reception, as well as sheltered anchorages. The community is also rich in Aboriginal culture and history. Just beyond the township, Iron Range National Park offers some of Australia's most unique tropical rainforest and coastal landscapes.

Nature lovers will also appreciate the area's exceptional birdlife. The Claudie River is recognised as one of Cape York's premier birdwatching destinations, with the surrounding forests and wetlands home to an impressive range of northern Australian species, including the distinctive Broad-billed Flycatcher.

Whether you're visiting to fish, explore the waterways, or experience the rugged beauty of Cape York, the Claudie River Boat Ramp serves as a valuable gateway to one of Australia's most remote and rewarding coastal regions.
