The Clifton Springs Boat Ramp offers a peaceful and hassle-free spot for launching boats. It's a popular choice among locals and fishing enthusiasts, so expect to see plenty of boaters heading out into open waters.
The area features two ramps; there are four lanes with pontoons on the first ramp and a two-lane concrete structures with pontoons on the sides on the second ramp, making them accessible for various boat types most of the time. However, launching large boats at low tide is not recommended. If the ramp gets too busy, kayakers can opt to launch from the nearby beach instead.
A fish cleaning table is conveniently located near the ramp, along with designated bays where boaters can attach a hose for cleaning.
The City of Greater Geelong completed construction on a new overflow parking area for cars and trailers at the Clifton Springs boat ramp in 2024. This addition provides 30 paved parking spaces for boat trailers, improving parking capacity at one of Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula’s most popular boat ramps. Located next to the eastern ramp, the new parking area formalises what was previously an informal overflow space. Dredging of the ramp was also done in Spring 2024.
Clifton Springs tends to get crowded, especially during peak hours, so it's best to arrive early if you plan to use the ramp. When it’s busy, expect some wait time for a spot, or consider parking on the street at the top of the hill.
The area features a local boat hire service and a scenic picnic spot with grassy areas and a small shelter. Restrooms are available near the main ramp, and the beach is easily accessible.
With its stunning views and crystal-clear, tranquil waters, Clifton Springs is a picturesque destination. It’s a great spot for photography, and the calm shoreline makes it ideal for swimming with children.
