The Coorooman Creek Boat Ramp is located in the
coastal locality of Zilzie, within Livingstone Shire. This well-designed,
two-lane concrete ramp features a central pontoon and offers smooth,
straightforward access for launching into Cawarral Creek and heading out to the
open ocean.
The area is clean and well-kept, making it a
pleasant spot for both boating and fishing. The waters here are known for
species like mud crabs, threadfin salmon, bream, and barramundi, offering a
good variety for anglers. The pontoon also provides a nice vantage point over
the creek.
There’s plenty of parking available, even on
weekends, with space for both cars and trailers. Toilets are located just
across the carpark, and picnic tables nearby offer a spot to relax before or
after heading out on the water.
The access road and carpark are sealed, which
helps keep things tidy; no muddy tracks to deal with. While it’s generally a
peaceful and quiet ramp, it’s important to keep an eye out when launching, as
saltwater crocodiles are known to inhabit the area.
All in all, Coorooman Creek is a neat,
practical launch site with good facilities and access to fishing waters,
although, at times, it can be a challenge for some fishers.
