Tucked away in Taroom and accessed via Corbetts Landing Road, the Corbet’s Landing Boat Ramp is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path spot featuring a two-lane concrete ramp that launches into the winding Water Park Creek. It’s a handy little access point to the river system, especially for those looking for a more low-key fishing or boating experience away from busier ramps.
The access road can be a bit rough in sections, particularly after heavy rain when parts may wash away, so a careful approach is recommended. Once there, you’ll find a fairly open area with plenty of space for parking boat trailers and setting up a small camp.
It’s a scenic location that offers solid fishing and crabbing opportunities, whether you’re out on the boat or casting from the bank. Anglers can expect species such as small bream and catfish. That said, conditions on the water can vary; currents may run quite fast, so extra caution is needed, especially if multiple boats are operating in close proximity.
Boaters should also be aware of crocodile activity in the area, with sightings reported near the ramp. As the water is generally murky, swimming is strongly discouraged.
The ramp itself is older-style but functional and is lit for low-light use. On weekends, it can get quite busy, and it’s worth coming prepared with insect repellent, as midges can be heavy at times.
Be careful when walking and parking your vehicle and trailer. Some ramp users have reported broken glass scattered on the ground. It's also wise to lock your vehicle when you're out on the water.
Despite these points, Corbet’s Landing remains a peaceful, scenic spot with a relaxed, rural feel: well-suited for a simple day trip or a future fishing and camping getaway.
