The Dalpura Street Boat Ramp, located within Dalpura Park on Macleay Island, is the only ramp on the northern part of the island. It features a two-lane concrete ramp along with a smaller kayak launch, both providing direct access to Moreton Bay. While it’s a well-kept and tidy ramp, it’s worth noting that it is best used at high tide, as the shallow bay can make launching and swimming difficult at other times.
The ramp itself is sheltered, making it a safe and convenient spot for launching small boats or kayaks. Families also make use of the area for swimming, particularly at high tide when the water is calm, shallow, and ideal for young children. A freshwater tap, picnic benches, and a sandy beach add to the practicality and appeal of the location.
Dalpura Park itself is a highlight of the area. With toilet and BBQ facilities, shaded seating, and sweeping views back toward the mainland, it’s a popular destination for both locals and visitors. The sunsets over the bay are particularly beautiful, making it a favourite spot for late afternoon picnics or a quiet evening by the water.
Beyond boating, the bay is well-suited to kayaking, paddle sports, and relaxed beach walks. The calm and clear water at high tide makes it enjoyable for swimming, though visitors should remain mindful of marine life such as bull sharks, which are occasionally present in the area.
Whether you’re heading out on the water, spending the day with family on the beach, or simply enjoying the peaceful outlook, Dalpura Street Boat Ramp and its surrounding park offer one of the best spots on Macleay Island to enjoy Moreton Bay.
