Just south of Wonga
Beach along Cook Highway, you’ll find the Dayman Point Boat Ramp; a handy
launch spot for exploring Snapper Island, Low Isles, and the offshore reefs!
Whether you’re heading out for a quick boating adventure or a fishing trip,
this spot has you covered.
The ramp itself is a
single-lane concrete ramp with posts and a breakwater wall where you can tie
off your boat. Keep in mind, though; there’s no pontoon, and the waves can get
rough on windy days, so checking the weather beforehand is a must.
Despite the
challenging launch conditions, the area is peaceful, clean, and has plenty of
space for rigging. The car park is spacious enough for vehicles and trailers,
and there’s even a boat wash-down area; just bring your own hose since there
isn’t one provided.
For those who prefer
fishing from land, the breakwater rocks and nearby beach offer solid spots to
cast a line. There are also shaded areas where you can kick back and escape the
heat.
One important
heads-up: crocodiles have been spotted in the area, so stay alert, especially
after dark. Stay safe and enjoy your time on the water!
