Located on The Esplanade in Mount Pleasant, Deep Water Point Reserve is a well-used, picturesque place on the Swan Riverside, particularly popular during the warmer months. Set within a scenic reserve, the dual-lane concrete boat ramp with a central pontoon here sees a steady stream of casual users, including boaters, jet ski riders, and water skiers, thanks to its close proximity to a designated ski area on the Swan River.
The ramp offers convenient access for both recreational boating and fishing, making it a versatile launch point. There’s a generous amount of trailer parking available, though it can be difficult to find a space during peak times, especially on weekends, due to the popular nearby café attracting visitors who often use the boat ramp parking bays.
Facilities at the reserve are well-maintained. Toilets are available during the day, and there’s a free BBQ station, picnic shelters, a soft white sand beach, and a playground for children, an additional jetty dedicated to fishing, making it a good spot for families as well.
Some users have noted that the path between the ramp and the beach could be improved to allow easier access for launching and retrieving boats and skis. There’s also occasional frustration from the boaters about café customers parking in bays meant for boat trailers, which adds to the congestion during busy periods. The area is designed for mixed use, so more consideration from all visitors would go a long way.
Beyond the ramp, the grassy park is pleasant for a walk or picnic. While it has recently been upgraded, the improvements haven’t fully addressed weekend crowding, and the space can still feel quite limited. For non-boating visitors, it remains a nice place to enjoy the riverside setting and grab a coffee.
