The Dennes Point Boat Ramp, found on Nebraska Road at the northern tip of Bruny Island, offers a single-lane concrete ramp for launching boats into the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, which gives access to Conningham, Tinderbox, North West Bay, and River Derwent. It’s exposed to winds from the south through to the northwest and has some low-tide limitations, so timing your launch is key.
The surrounding waters are quite shallow, making a 4x4 and electric tilt handy for launching, though not strictly necessary. While there’s no dedicated carpark right at the ramp, a small parking area is available nearby.
Conveniences are close at hand, with public toilets, rubbish bins, picnic tables, and a sheltered BBQ area just a few steps away.
A public fishing jetty sits a short walk north, perfect for dropping a line if you’re not heading out on the water. The area also offers a handful of cosy accommodation options, making it easy to turn your visit into a relaxing getaway.
