Tucked away in Belconnen, the Diddams Close Boat Ramp offers a beautiful, shaded setting with picnic areas, open spaces for dogs to run, and easy access to Lake Ginninderra. The small single-lane ramp allows you to launch small boats and PWCs, making it a great spot for a day on the water. However there aren't facilities to tie your water vessels at the shore.

That being said, the current boat ramp isn’t ideal—it lacks a proper slope into the water, is rocky, and has nowhere to tie up or dock a boat. Because of these issues, local boaters have expressed concerns about potential damage to their boats and trailers.

After community feedback in December 2023, the ACT Government inspected the site and found that while the ramp itself is in good condition, it doesn’t extend far enough into the water, making launching difficult. A major upgrade is planned, with design work starting in late 2024 and construction set for 2025. Once completed, the new ramp will be:

✔ Safer for boat and trailer launching

✔ Less likely to cause damage to boats and trailers

✔ Better at preventing erosion of the lakebed and shoreline

✔ Easier to maintain in the long run

✔ More convenient for residents to access the lake and surrounding amenities

Beyond boating, Diddams Close is a fantastic spot for picnicking, biking, and taking your furry friends for a walk. There’s ample parking, BBQ facilities, a playground for kids, and tables and chairs nearby, plus public toilets within 100m of the parking area.
