The East Arm Boat Ramp, accessible via Casey Street, is a public two-lane concrete ramp with a central pontoon equipped with solar lighting. This ramp provides direct access to Catalina Island and South Shell Island, making it a popular launch point for local boaters and anglers.
To make the most of your trip, keep an eye on the tides; while the ramp is usable at lower tides, the pontoon is only accessible when water levels are above 2.5 meters. Boats up to 5.5 meters can be launched here with ease. During the wet season, the outer section of the pontoon (between piers 4 and 5) is temporarily removed to protect it from harsh weather conditions.
For those heading out at night, ample lighting ensures safe launching and retrieval, and security cameras monitor the area for added peace of mind.
The spacious carpark offers plenty of room for both cars and trailers, so finding a spot shouldn't be an issue. On-site amenities include toilets, rubbish bins, prep bays, and sheltered picnic tables, adding to the convenience of this location.
If you prefer land-based fishing, you’re in luck. The shoreline and pontoon are great spots for casting a line.
As a favourite among locals, this ramp can get busy, especially on weekends. If you're planning a full day on the water, it's best to arrive early to secure a spot and beat the crowd.
