Fishers Creek Boat Ramp

|The Fishers Creek Boat Ramp is a hidden, single-lane concrete ramp located off the Bruce Highway at Rungoo, in Queensland’s Cassowary Coast region. Finding it can be a little tricky if you’re not familiar with the area. A GPS is handy to avoid missing the turnoff, although there is a sign at the side of the highway that marks the entrance to the ramp. But once you're on the ramp, it opens up access to a maze of mangrove-lined waterways. From here, you can explore Haycock Island, Hinchinbrook Island, or follow the estuary out to the ocean.

This ramp is best suited for small boats and is ideally used at high tide for a smoother launch. Sitting right in the heart of the Hinchinbrook Channel, it’s a great option on windy days when more exposed ramps can be challenging.

Facilities here are minimal. There’s a small parking area for cars and trailers, but no toilets, shops, or other services nearby. Sandflies are common, so insect repellent is essential. The area has a quiet and remote feel, so it’s important to come prepared with all your supplies and ensure your boat, trailer, and vehicle are in good working order before heading out.

Despite its simplicity, Fishers Creek is a valuable gateway to some incredible fishing and boating territory. Just remember to take your rubbish with you and keep the area as unspoiled as possible.
