The Flinders Boat Ramp, tucked away on Golf Links Rd in the charming coastal town of Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula, is a favourite launch spot for locals and visitors keen to explore the western end of Western Port Bay or zip over to Phillip Island. It’s a low-key, single-lane concrete ramp that’s just a converted sand beach ramp; best suited for small to medium-sized trailer boats.
Fair warning, though: this ramp isn’t the most beginner-friendly, especially with the tide playing a big part in how easy (or tricky) your launch might be. It’s a “check-the-tide-times-before-you-go” kind of place.
What it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm and fishing potential. There’s a long jetty beside the ramp, which is a great spot for land-based anglers hoping to hook squid, oysters, whiting, snapper, or calamari; the local waters are teeming with marine life.
Parking is available, but it can fill up fast during weekends and holidays, so getting there early is your best bet. Around the ramp, you'll find public toilets and picnic areas. Visitors can sunbathe, swim, or wade on the beach as well, which make it a solid spot for a relaxed day trip or a family outing.
Despite being on the smaller side, Flinders Boat Ramp is a gem, offering stunning coastal views, a peaceful vibe, and plenty of opportunities to get out on the water and enjoy some of Victoria’s best fishing.
