The Flying Fish Point
Boat Ramp is a public, single-lane concrete ramp located right on the Esplanade
at Flying Fish Point, giving boaters easy access to the Johnstone River and
beyond to the ocean. While it’s a decent ramp overall, it can be tricky to navigate
in certain tide and weather conditions, so less experienced boaters might find
it a bit of a challenge.
If you’re heading out
for a day on the water, keep an eye out for crocodiles—especially when fishing
or cruising through the Johnstone River. It’s always smart to stay croc-wise,
so check out this croc safety guide video before you go!
There’s plenty of
parking near the ramp, and if you’re looking for a place to relax, you’ll find
undercover picnic tables and chairs perfect for a lunch break by the water. A
toilet block is also close by for convenience. Next to the ramp, there’s a small
beach that’s great for a tranquil stroll, plus some interesting rock formations
just a few metres away for those who like to explore. Dogs are welcome, but
they must stay on a leash at all times.
