The Four Springs Lake Boat Ramp is a peaceful spot tucked away in the bushland of Selbourne, just a short 30-minute drive from Launceston. This well-maintained, two-lane concrete ramp includes two jetties, making it easy for multiple boats to launch at once. One jetty also features a night light which is handy for navigating back in low light. There's also a wheelchair-accessible rock jetty, offering land-based fishing access with a thoughtful design.
Access is straightforward via a well-graded dirt road (no 4WD required) and there’s ample parking nearby, with plenty of space for both cars and trailers, plus a good turning circle for ease of manoeuvring.
Four Springs Lake is a popular destination for trout anglers and is well stocked, especially with brown trout. While the lake is quite weedy in places, it’s still very fishable. Bringing waders is recommended for those without boats and are looking to reach the more productive spots along the shoreline.
The setting is quiet and scenic, surrounded by native bush and full of birdlife, making it a relaxing place to fish or simply enjoy a picnic.
A picnic table is provided near the lake, and a recently installed toilet block is available and appears to be in good condition, which are practical additions for a day out.
While the fishing can be hit or miss, as always, the lake remains a favourite among locals and visitors alike. You can walk the perimeter of the dam, but be aware that snakes are occasionally spotted, so take care, particularly if visiting with children.
All in all, Four Springs Lake offers a well-equipped, peaceful location for a day of fishing or nature-watching, whether you’re going solo or bringing the family along.
