Fred’s Landing, located just outside Tailem Bend, is a charming spot on the Murray River, ideal for boating, picnics, and family gatherings. The site features a small single-lane boat ramp with a modest jetty, suitable for launching small boats and jet skis, providing easy access to the river.
The adjoining campsite is designed for caravans, with tents not permitted, and campfires are allowed. The access road and parking area are in good condition, and there’s a grassy riverside area perfect for relaxing as the sun sets. Well-maintained tables sit under a row of gum trees, and the natural native vegetation along the cliffs adds to the reserve’s scenic appeal.
Visitors can enjoy a free BBQ area, public toilets (open from 9 am to 5 pm), and peaceful surroundings. The jetty area is popular for fishing, with occasional splashes hinting at fish activity, while ducks and other birdlife can often be spotted among the reeds. Be aware that, as with any riverside area, there is a minor risk of snakes and mosquitoes, particularly at night when the water is calm.
Fred’s Landing is perfect for a riverside picnic, fishing, or simply taking in the views of the Murray River. It’s a quiet, free campsite where wildlife and nature can be enjoyed in a peaceful, scenic setting.
