Great Bay Boat Ramp

The Great Bay Boat Ramp, located on Bruny Island, is a single-lane concrete ramp that provides access to Great Bay, with connections through to Missionary Bay and the Tasmanian mainland. It’s a quiet, scenic launch point well-suited for small boating trips in the area.

To get there, follow Great Bay Road, a short distance past Bruny Island Landscape Supplies. Parking is available right at the ramp or just before reaching it. From there, you can enjoy a peaceful walk along the surrounding sandflats on either side of the ramp.

It’s a picturesque spot, especially when the weather is clear. Take your time as you wander as it's not uncommon to spot small fish, crabs, and hermit crabs in the shallows. At low tide, the expansive tidal flats make for a great opportunity to explore the bay’s unique coastal environment.

There’s plenty of space for parking, but be aware that the site has no amenities (no toilets or facilities) so it’s best to come prepared. Despite the lack of services, the natural beauty and calm surroundings make this a relaxing and worthwhile destination for boaters and nature walkers alike.
