Tucked away on Hodder Road in Rita Island (around 22km from Ayr), the Hell Hole Boat Ramp is a practical access point for those heading onto the Burdekin River.
The site features a dual-lane concrete ramp that provides one of the most direct boat entry points into the river mouth from the Ayr region. Anglers frequent the area for its solid catches of whiting, bream, and mangrove jack.
On-site, there’s a large unsealed area that comfortably accommodates boat and trailer parking, with the added flexibility of limited, no-power camping for those wanting to stay close to the water.
It’s worth noting that the location is quite basic, with no facilities available, so visitors should come well-prepared with everything they need for their trip.
