The Inkerman Creek Boat Ramp, also known as the Port Alma Creek boat ramp, is located in Port Alma, a coastal township within the Rockhampton Region. The site now features a newly constructed single-lane concrete ramp providing direct access to Inkerman Creek.

The project was delivered in two stages. Stage one focused on reclaiming tidal land, including preloading the fill material and allowing a 12-month settlement period before construction could begin. This stage also included building the road intersection. Stage two involved removing the surcharge fill and completing the new single-lane ramp, along with a dedicated car and trailer parking area.

The facility also offers a generous rigging area and a large sealed bitumen car park, with space for around 20 car-and-trailer combinations. While the upgrades have improved the site overall, some users have suggested further enhancements.

Maritime Safety Queensland has announced plans for a proposed design that includes a floating walkway. They conducted community consultations in the early part of 2026, and as of writing this, are now on the planning stage. The concept design features a 50-meter floating walkway with a concrete deck, cleats for safer mooring, and a solar-powered light post to enhance visibility at night. These additions are intended to streamline launching and retrieval, provide safer boarding for skippers and passengers, and improve access during varying tidal conditions.

Feedback includes calls for a longer or wider floating walkway, potentially in an L-shape, to better accommodate both launching and casual fishing, as well as a less steep ramp gradient and the addition of a second lane with a central pontoon to improve efficiency.

There are currently no amenities on-site, so it’s best to come prepared for the day. Insect repellent is strongly recommended, as sandflies (midges) can be particularly active in the area. Boaters should also exercise caution on the water, as crocodiles are known to inhabit the creek and are occasionally seen along the banks.
