Karuah Boat Ramp

The Karuah Boat Ramp, located on the Upper Karuah River in the town of Karuah, part of the Port Stephens and Mid-Coast region, offers a well-built dual-lane concrete ramp that provides easy access to the quiet upper river, or for those heading further, out towards Port Stephens. The ramp is equipped with pontoons on both sides, making it easy to dock as well as load and unload passengers and items. It’s a user-friendly ramp suitable for both seasoned boaters and those just starting out.

While the ramp is simple to use, it's a good idea to check tide and weather conditions before launching. At low tide, the water depth at the end of the ramp can drop to just 0.3 metres, and strong tidal currents do occur from time to time.

The ramp is well suited for recreational boating, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, making it a great alternative to the busier boat ramps further downstream.

There's enough space nearby to set up your boat and park your car and trailer comfortably. Amenities in the area include a fish cleaning station, benches within the shore. Up along the road, there are toilets, kids playground, and picnic tables and chairs.

Surrounding the ramp are peaceful riverbanks lined with native bushland and home to a variety of birdlife. The calm backwaters create a relaxing setting for a day on the water. Fishing here is popular, with species like flathead, bream, and flounder regularly caught, and it’s also a reliable spot for blue swimmer crabs.
