Tucked away on
Waterview Street in Putney, the Kissing Point Park Boat Ramp is a fantastic
spot to launch into the Parramatta River and explore Sydney’s stunning harbour.
This two-lane concrete ramp makes getting on the water easy, with a jetty right
next to it for docking. However, a word of caution; be mindful when using the
ramp, as it can get slippery. Also, the waves created by passing ferries can
stir up the water, so take your time when launching your boat.
In 2021, the City of
Ryde gave the boat ramp a major upgrade, making it even more convenient for
boaters. The improvements included widening the ramp to fit two cars with
trailers at once, a new groyne to protect against waves, and a redesigned car
park for better traffic flow. They also added extra seating, shaded areas, a
brand-new fish cleaning table, boat washdown facilities, and upgraded toilets,
making the entire area more user-friendly.
Parking is generally
ample, but during peak times, the spaces for cars and trailers can fill up
fast. If you're not in a rush, it's worth sticking around to enjoy the
surroundings. Right near the ramp, there’s a small beach where you can relax
and soak up the sun, as well as a wharf for the ferries that cruise along the
river. It’s also a prime spot to catch a breathtaking sunset over the water.
If you're bringing the
family along, the nearby park is a great place for kids to play on the
playground, take a stroll with your dog, or set up a picnic under the trees.
Whether you’re out for a day of boating, fishing, or simply unwinding by the
water, Kissing Point ramp has everything you need for a relaxing time outdoors.
