UPDATE (6/23/2025):
Work is underway to improve boating facilities at Lang Lang, with construction set to make launching and retrieving boats easier in the months ahead. Simpson Construction has begun on-site preparations this week, with piling for a new jetty soon to follow. The project includes the addition of a new concrete ramp (positioned alongside the existing one) and the construction of a new jetty featuring non-slip decking and room for up to five boats to tie up at once. While the ramp will continue to operate as a high-tide facility, these upgrades will significantly enhance its usability and overall capacity once complete.
For those eager to take advantage of winter boating on Western Port, nearby boat ramps at Tooradin, Corinella, and Grantville remain accessible. As always, it’s a good idea to check current ramp and weather conditions using the Boating Vic app before heading out.
Access to the caravan park and beach will remain open throughout the construction period. For further updates and details about the project, visit: betterboating.vic.gov.au/ramp-upgrades/lang-lang.
The Lang Lang Boat Ramp is a simple, single-lane ramp located about southeast of Melbourne, right on the shores of Western Port. While the current ramp is shallow and can be a bit tricky to launch, exciting upgrades are in the works to make it much more user-friendly.
A major revamp is set to improve the facility by the Victorian Government, starting with a new, steeper boat ramp built alongside the existing one to make launching and retrieving boats easier. The original ramp will stay in place to provide extra capacity on busy days. A brand-new jetty will also be installed, giving boaters a convenient spot to tie up while launching or docking.
Parking is getting an upgrade as well, with 33 dedicated car-and-trailer spaces, 10 single-car spots, and an informal overflow area that can fit another 10 trailers. This means more room for both locals and visiting boaters.
Right now, the ramp already has some handy amenities, including a fish cleaning station with a hose, a nearby toilet block, and a BBQ area just a short walk away. There are also benches scattered along the sandy beach, making it a great spot to relax after a day on the water. Plus, with a caravan and camping park nearby, it’s the perfect place for a weekend getaway.
Lang Lang Beach itself is a peaceful and scenic stretch of coastline, ideal for a family day out. Whether you're looking to fish, take a stroll, or just enjoy the fresh sea air, it’s a great spot to unwind.
