Lawnton Boat Ramp

The Lawnton Boat Ramp, located on Leis Parade (near the Gympie Rd bridge) in the Moreton Bay suburb of Lawnton, is a small, single-lane concrete ramp that provides access to the winding waterways of the North Pine River. It’s best suited for launching smaller vessels such as tinnies, kayaks, and jet skis.

The ramp is quite tidal and tends to get muddy, so it’s recommended to launch and retrieve during high tide for easier access. At low tide, the ramp can be challenging to use, and some boaters suggest heading back downstream as the tide turns to avoid getting caught on gravel banks.

Parking is generally available, though spaces specifically for cars with trailers are somewhat limited.

For those who prefer to stay on land, the area is also popular for land-based fishing, with accessible riverbanks nearby. Surrounding the ramp is Leis Park—a peaceful, green space that’s well-suited for families and pet owners. The park includes shaded seating, picnic shelters, BBQ facilities, a playground, public toilets, and walking paths ideal for a casual stroll or walking the dog. Plus, the location is wheelchair accessible.

There’s also a bit of local character to be found in the remains of an old railway track nearby; worth a look if you enjoy a bit of history or are after a scenic photo. While the area is typically calm and pleasant, it can become busy on weekends, particularly during good weather.
