Lock 6 Road Boat Ramp

The Lewisham Boat Ramp, located in the suburb of Lewisham in Sorell, TAS, is a dual-lane concrete ramp with an adjacent walkway, offering all-tide access into the Murray River. While the ramp is exposed to north-west through south-west weather, it provides a reliable launching point for a range of boating activities.

In April 2025, significant upgrades began on the facility, including a 12.8-metre extension to the northern jetty and the addition of a new 30-metre southern jetty. Despite being subject to weather delays, the project was completed by August 2025, enhancing the ramp’s usability and overall access.

The site is well equipped, with wide parking areas suitable for cars and trailers, as well as a public toilet conveniently located nearby.

The setting makes it an enjoyable spot not just for launching a boat, but also for fishing, picnicking, or simply relaxing by the water. Families often use the area for a day out, taking advantage of the open spaces and safe atmosphere.

Whether you’re heading out for a day’s fishing, launching the boat, or enjoying a quiet waterside picnic, the Lewisham Boat Ramp offers a practical and welcoming place to make the most of the coast.
