Located alongside the popular Marion Bay Jetty on the southern tip of the Yorke Peninsula, the Marion Bay Boat Ramp provides direct access to offshore fishing grounds and the waters surrounding the region. The facility features a dual-lane boat ramp that launches into Investigator Strait in St. Vincent Gulf and is commonly used by recreational fishers heading out in search of tuna, snapper, and other local species.

While the ramp offers convenient access to the water, sand accumulation can be a challenge. Despite ongoing maintenance and sand removal efforts, significant build-up can occur on and around the ramp, particularly after rough weather. Launching is generally manageable, but retrieving boats can be more difficult, with many boaters recommending a 4WD vehicle to safely navigate the sandy conditions.

The ramp has attracted attention in recent years following the completion of the redevelopment project. Since opening, concerns have been raised by local fishers regarding ramp usability and vessel safety, prompting further discussions around potential upgrades and modifications. As an interim measure, the previous boat ramp has been reopened while long-term solutions continue to be explored.

A large parking area provides ample room for vehicles and boat trailers, making the facility suitable even during busier days.

Beyond the boat ramp, Marion Bay itself is one of South Australia's most loved coastal destinations. The nearby jetty is a local landmark and a favourite spot for fishing, sightseeing, and relaxing by the water.

Stretching approximately 300 metres into the water, the jetty offers opportunities to catch a variety of fish species, along with squid, which are particularly popular among anglers.

The jetty is well maintained and includes sheltered seating, fish-cleaning stations, and even a catch measurement chart for keen fishers. Families will also appreciate the calm surroundings, wide-open beaches, and plenty of space to enjoy a day outdoors. Nearby facilities include a tavern, general store, caravan park, camping areas, and picnic spots, all within easy walking distance.

Whether you're launching a boat, casting a line from the jetty, or simply enjoying the peaceful coastal atmosphere, Marion Bay offers a relaxed seaside experience and serves as an excellent gateway to some of the Yorke Peninsula's best fishing and boating opportunities.
