Meningie Boat Ramp, Meningie

The Meningie Boat Ramp is conveniently located between the Bushranger Birdman of Coorong statue and the Meningie Lions Jubilee Park, offering reliable access to Lake Albert via a well-maintained, two-lane concrete ramp. It's a popular choice for both recreational boaters and local anglers. A fixed jetty sits beside the ramp and is often used by land-based fishers. Launching from here is easy and safe, allowing anyone to launch their boats without issues.

Adjacent to the ramp is a designated swimming area, clearly signposted and equipped with steps for easy lake access. The water is generally calm and clear, offering a peaceful spot to cool off, which is well separated from boating activity for added safety. On quiet days, the surface of the lake is near still, occasionally disturbed only by passing birdlife, such as the resident pelicans.

The parking area nearby is medium-sized, with enough space for trailers, caravans, and larger travel vehicles, including converted buses. From the car park, there are excellent views across Lake Albert.

Close by, the Bushranger Birdman of Coorong display features a climbable emu statue; sturdy enough for photos and a bit of fun. The surrounding foreshore includes open lawn areas (with picnic tables and benches), large shady trees, and frequent visits from pelicans, adding to the tranquil lakeside setting.

The adjacent Meningie Lions Jubilee Park is a spacious and family-friendly area, ideal for resting or picnicking along the lake’s edge. Located near the town’s main shops, the park includes a playground, multiple picnic tables, and five electric barbecues which are all sheltered under cover. There's also a large double barbecue setup for group gatherings.

Public toilets are available in the park, with disabled and parent-friendly facilities.

For those who enjoy walking or cycling, the Pelican Path, a shared interpretive trail, runs along the foreshore. It’s accessible for prams, wheelchairs, and mobility scooters, and offers cultural and historical insights along the way. The trail is also the route for the local parkrun, a scenic and well-maintained track that’s easy to follow, especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset when the sky lights up in soft pink hues.

Whether you're planning a picnic, taking a break from driving, or looking to launch your boat, Meningie offers a peaceful and well-equipped stopover with one of the best views of Lake Albert.
