Also known as the Shaving Boat Ramp,
located in Metung, this ramp was upgraded and completed in October 2023. The
Victoria state government invested in the construction of a two-lane concrete
boat ramp, a new fixed structure jetty, and a new floating pontoon.
The renovation involved demolishing the
existing concrete double ramp and two timber jetties, replacing them with a
combination of fixed and floating jetties while also performing remediation
work to prevent sand buildup on the ramp.
Visitors have noted that the ramp can be
slippery, so please exercise caution when launching or retrieving your boat.
The area offers beautiful water views along Metung and features a charming,
quaint township. The boat ramp is ideal for launching small boats and jet skis.
The picturesque waterway is a lovely spot to relax on calm days, making it a
nice, quiet place to enjoy a few hours of fishing or crabbing. However, once
the winds pick up, it can get quite cold, and the water becomes choppy.
Additionally, there are tables, benches,
and fish cleaning stations available. The area is vibrant with wildlife,
including pelicans, swans, and seagulls. Overall, this is a great ramp that
provides direct access to the Gippsland Lakes waterway.
