Middle Beach Boat Ramp is a small but functional facility providing access to the mangrove-lined waters of Salt Creek. The ramp is in a small coastal township approximately 40 kilometres northwest of Adelaide, South Australia, within the Adelaide Plains Council jurisdiction. This ramp is a convenient gateway to Gulf St Vincent.
The ramp is a dual-lane concrete surface, with a central pontoon, that is best used during high tide. Low tide can expose sandbanks, making it difficult to paddle in or out. Water levels lower than 1.2 meters may be too shallow for safe navigation. Furthermore, the ramps often have a significant buildup of seaweed.
This facility is mostly used by recreational fishers and kayakers exploring the estuarine environment.
The carpark has ample spots for car and trailer parking but the ramp is rarely crowded, making it a great spot for those looking for a peaceful boating experience.
Amenities at the ramp include a barbecue station, water, sheltered picnic tables and benches, and restrooms.
Middle Beach is a popular destination for crabbing and whiting fishing. The area is also ideal for leisure boating and kayaking. It's also safe for everyone (yes including kids) to swim and wade within the creek. The area also attracts birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts due to its diverse coastal wildlife.
