The Mill Point Boat Ramp is a conveniently located facility
on Lake Eildon, one of Victoria’s largest inland waterways. This single-lane
concrete ramp features a small pontoon, which is useful for temporary mooring
while boaters prepare their vessels. It is frequently used by small boats
seeking to take advantage of Lake Eildon’s extensive water network. The ramp is
in good condition, but fluctuating lake levels can impact accessibility.
In addition to the ramp, there is another launching spot in
the area that has a gravel beach and a wider space suitable for launching
larger boats.
Parking space for cars and trailers is limited at both
launching spots. Additionally, there are no amenities, except for a fish cleaning station, nearby, so visitors
should come prepared when they visit the area.
Mill Point is a popular site due to its easy access to deep
water, making it an excellent launch point even in drier conditions. The scenic
beauty of the lake and the variety of activities available make Mill Point an
ideal location for water skiing, wakeboarding, and fishing for trout and golden
perch. It’s also a nice spot for swimming, although caution should be exercised
around boats returning to the ramp. Visitors should remain aware of the
possibility of rapid weather changes and submerged hazards in certain areas of
the lake. Despite these challenges, the Mill Point Boat Ramp continues to be a
key launching site for those exploring the vast waters of Lake Eildon.
