The Murdunna Boat Ramp, located on Sommers Bay Road in the rural locality of Murdunna, South East Tasmania, is a single-lane concrete ramp with an adjacent walkway, providing straightforward access into the bay. The ramp is generally well sheltered, allowing for use in most weather conditions, although it can be affected by northwesterly winds and is somewhat limited at low tide.
Parking is limited; there's only a basic dirt area that typically suffices on quiet days but can be inadequate during peak periods, particularly around holidays such as Easter and Christmas when the ramp becomes noticeably busier.
Several jetties are scattered along the shoreline, but most appear to be privately owned, so caution is advised if approaching them. The waters in the area are known to be quite good for squid fishing.
The ramp was upgraded several years ago, and outside of peak times, it’s usually possible to launch without much delay. However, there are no amenities directly on site. A short distance away is Graham’s Jetty, another popular fishing spot, and further along you’ll find public toilets, a petrol station, and some dining options.
