The Murray Road Boat Ramp, situated in Torndirrup, is a small single-lane ramp that offers direct access to the ocean, Frenchman Bay, and various nearby islands. Tucked among natural granite formations, it’s a quiet and lesser-known spot that’s well-suited for launching small boats or tinnies.
The adjacent beach is clean, typically free of seaweed, and offers a peaceful setting to spend time by the water.
While the ramp is functional and offers easy access, parking is limited, and the facility may benefit from future upgrades, particularly to improve safety during easterly winds. As the site is used solely for boat launching, improvements have been suggested to better accommodate local needs.
However, there are public toilets and dedicated car parks are located a few metres down the road from the ramp.
Fishing is popular in the area, with species typical of the South Coast Bioregion, such as dusky morwong, wrasse, and juvenile grouper, frequently caught. Rock fishing around the area has also seen some success.
Overall, it’s a pleasant and practical spot for boaters and anglers looking to enjoy a quieter part of the coast.
