Pirates Bay Boat Ramp is a well-loved spot for boaters and anglers looking to hit up Pirates Bay and head out into the ocean. It features a dual-lane ramp with an adjacent walkway and jetty. No matter the weather or tide, this ramp is
always ready for action! Just watch out; it can get a bit slippery at times due
to slime build-up.
The launching
facilities here are top-notch, and there’s plenty of parking right next to the
ramp. But if you want a prime spot close to the water, it’s best to arrive
early. Otherwise, you might have to park your car and trailer up on the road.
Fishing here is
fantastic, with anglers reeling in a variety of fish species, squid, and even
lobsters. If you don’t feel like catching your own, you can often buy fresh
lobsters directly from local fishermen selling their haul. A local fishing
charter also operates from the ramp, giving fishing enthusiasts the chance to
join a trip out on the water. Right next to the ramp, you’ll also find the
headquarters of the Tuna Club of Tasmania.
If you have time to
explore, be sure to check out the nearby Tasman Arch, Blowhole, and Devil’s
Kitchen. These incredible rock formations have been shaped by years of erosion
and offer some breathtaking natural scenery.
For convenience,
there’s a public toilet near the ramp, but keep in mind there are no fish
cleaning or boat wash-down facilities.
