Prosser River Boat Ramp

The Prosser River Boat Ramp, located beside the bridge along the Tasman Highway in Orford, is a dual-lane concrete ramp with an adjacent walkway, providing all-weather and all-tide access.

It’s a solid and well-maintained facility, wide enough for two boats to launch simultaneously, making it a reliable option for both locals and visiting boaters.

While the ramp is easy to use, it’s best to seek local advice before crossing the barway, as conditions at the river mouth can change quickly, particularly at low tide. The jetty beside the ramp has been in place for several years and continues to serve its purpose well.

Parking for cars and trailers is located a short distance from the ramp, with plenty of space for manoeuvring. However, amenities are limited (there’s just a single rubbish bin nearby), so it’s best to come prepared.

The calm waters and scenic views make this a pleasant spot for a relaxed launch or a quiet day of fishing, even if the catches can be hit or miss. From here, it’s an ideal starting point for trips out toward Maria Island and beyond, offering a beautiful coastal setting to begin any boating adventure.
