The Sans Souci Boat Ramp, located at Claydon Reserve along The Promenade, offers a single-lane concrete ramp that provides convenient access to the Georges River. It’s suitable for small boats, canoes, tinnies, and kayaks, though jet skis aren’t allowed in this part of the bay. Parking is generally easy, with plenty of spaces available near the ramp. If you’re planning to fish, it’s a good spot to bring your gear, but be mindful to keep the bay clean.
The ramp performs best at high tide. At low tide, the area becomes very shallow, and getting in or out may mean dealing with thick mud, although manageable for kayaks and tinnies but not ideal for anything larger under these conditions. There is also a toilet block right beside the ramp.
Claydon Reserve itself is a pleasant place to spend time by the water. The reserve includes a well-maintained soccer field, a children’s playground, ample parking, and open space for jogging, exercising, or team sports. Many local football teams use the grounds for training, with field lights on until 9 pm
Visitors will also find benches, clean toilets, BBQ facilities, and plenty of room for kids to run around. A small deck overlooks the water, offering a peaceful spot to enjoy the view, especially at sunset over Kogarah Bay. On weekends, the nearby canteen is open, adding to the convenience.
Overall, the area provides a mix of practical boating access and a relaxed, family-friendly park environment.
