Shoalhaven Heads Boat
Ramp on Hay Avenue is a great spot for launching into the Shoalhaven River and
its scenic estuaries. Just a short distance from the Hay Avenue Boat Ramp, this
launch site provides easy access to calm waters and a prime birdwatching location,
making it a fantastic choice for a laid-back day on the water—whether you're
boating, fishing, or just exploring.
This 2-lane concrete
ramp is well-suited for small to medium-sized boats, kayaks, and jet skis, but
boaters should watch out for the drop-off at the end of the ramp. Since the
surrounding area is sandy, expect the ramp to be a bit slippery at times; especially
if it’s been covered by wind-blown sand. Tidal conditions can also vary, so
checking water levels before launching is always a smart move.
If you’re hoping to
tie up to a jetty, keep in mind that the small jetties along the riverbanks are
privately owned by nearby riverfront homes. While there aren’t any facilities
right at the ramp, parking is available just across the main road, a short walk
away. You can find toilets and rubbish bins here.
This location is a
favorite among anglers, with bream and flathead commonly caught in the area.
Plus, with beautiful nearby beaches and natural reserves, it’s an excellent
spot for a full day of outdoor adventure.
