Storm King Dam Public Boat Ramp, Storm King

The public boat ramp at Storm King Dam, located near Stanthorpe in the Southern Downs and accessible via Eukey Road, offers a relaxed and scenic spot to enjoy a day on the water. The facility features a straightforward single-lane concrete ramp providing access into the dam, making it suitable for boating, kayaking, canoeing, and jet skiing. There is also a pontoon near the ramp for land-based fishos and for mooring boats.

The area is well-suited to families and day visitors, with plenty of open space to relax, swim, picnic, or spend time on the water. Facilities include a sealed parking area beside the ramp, toilets, picnic tables, wood barbecues, drinking water, a jetty, a playground, a swimming area, and ample parking. Large shade trees around the reserve make it an inviting place to settle in for a quiet afternoon by the dam. Please note that camping is not permitted at the site.

Set amongst picturesque rural surrounds, Storm King Dam is known for its peaceful atmosphere, warm water, and beautiful views, particularly during late spring and early summer when the landscape is at its best. The dam is also home to an abundance of birdlife, including pelicans, along with turtles and a range of popular freshwater fish species such as golden perch, Murray cod, silver perch, jewfish, and river blackfish. Anglers over 18 years old are required to hold a fishing permit, available through Australia Post outlets.
