The Surveyors Bay Boat Ramp, located in the rural Huon Valley region, offers a single-lane concrete ramp with an adjacent walkway, providing direct access to Flathead Bay. While the ramp is exposed to northerly through south-easterly winds, it remains accessible at all tide levels. Users should note that the surface can be slippery at times. A small jetty sits alongside the ramp, suitable for docking, loading, and unloading, though diving from the jetty is not permitted.
Parking is available nearby, though the small car park can be limited, particularly during busy periods. The area around the ramp includes picnic tables, seating, and a barbecue facility, making it a pleasant spot to relax before or after time on the water.
Just beyond the ramp lies a semi-secluded beach. It’s not signposted, but for those who find it, it’s a quiet and inviting stretch of fine sand, colourful stones, and natural greenery. Surrounded by trees and bushes, the setting is peaceful, with the sound of waves adding to the appeal. A free-use double canoe is available on the nearby public grass area; visitors are welcome to use it, provided it’s returned afterwards.
This part of the Huon Valley offers scenic views of the water and distant hills, making it a good option for a warm day out. The beach is well-suited for families with young children, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.
