The Talbingo Dam boat
ramp opened to the public in October 2021. Managed by Snowy Valleys Council on
behalf of Snowy Hydro, this facility allows boat enthusiasts to enjoy Talbingo
Dam while providing a safe and friendly recreation area for swimmers to cool
off. The project includes new amenities, improved pedestrian access, and
additional parking.
The boat ramp features
two concrete lanes for easy access to the Tumut River and includes a pontoon
where boaters can moor their boats. The pontoon is also a spot for fishing or
swimming, equipped with lifebuoys for safety. A buoyed swimming area has been
designated adjacent to the boat ramp.
There is one covered
picnic area and a toilet block available. However, the area lacks trees, so if
you plan to spend the day here, be sure to bring a shade tent or beach
umbrella, along with other essentials to stay cool and protected from the sun.
This unexpected
leisure paradise, nestled among mountains, dams, and lakes, attracts many
tourists during the summer months. In addition to boating, visitors of all ages
can enjoy swimming, kayaking, fishing, and simply relaxing by the water. There
are also opportunities to explore the scenic Talbingo Dam.
